And here, fine folks, are your Ten Commandments of Back to School:
- Thou shalt not get a bunch of shit thou doesn’t need when back to school shopping.
- Thou shalt not covet thy child’s office supplies.
- Thou shalt remember that when school starts, even though we think “Fall”, it’s still hot.
- Thou shalt not overcommit ourselves.
- Thou shalt not overcommit our kids.
- Thou shalt not expect a smooth and perfect transition first day
- Thou shalt not wait until the day before school to enforce a bedtime.
- Thou shalt not freak out that their child’s teacher is like….21 years old and the address she gave your child to communicate was her college address.
- Thou shalt not send kid to school looking like a kid out of an LLBean, JCrew or Lands End catalog. He or she will get beaten up.
- Thou shalt not get so caught up in September magazines that you do not realize what is going on around you.
